At Jaroslawicz & Jaros, LLC, we are honest with potential clients when it comes time to talk about whether they have a case or not, how much it might be worth, and how long it will probably take, so that the person who has trusted us enough to tell us their story has the information they need to make the decision that is best for them as to how to proceed.

We are also honest with people who come to our office seeking legal representation whom we are unable to assist. We know it is frustrating to those seeking legal help to be turned away, so the following are some of the reasons why we would turn down a case.

We do not handle that kind of legal work:

Our firm specializes in helping people who have been seriously injured and are seeking the compensation they are entitled to. We are very good at this (we’ve recovered over $2 billion for our clients) because we don’t get sidetracked doing other types of legal work. So, when people (even past clients) come to us seeking help with something like a divorce, or a criminal case, we cannot represent them.

The injuries are not serious enough:

Unfortunately, we have to turn away a fair number of people who have been injured, because taking their case is not an efficient use of our limited time and resources. A lawyer’s time is his stock in trade. There are only so many hours in a day. We therefore must limit the cases that we can accept. We believe in quality of cases over quantity, and in having the time to maximize the recovery for each case.

There is no insurance covering the accident:

If the defendant does not have insurance to cover the accident, and does not have the financial resources to personally pay for the damages, then filing a lawsuit does not make sense.

We see “red flags” during our free, initial consultation:

Our first meeting with a potential client is always free of charge. During that meeting we go over the basic facts of the case: How did it happen? What is the theory of liability? What caused the injury? What is the injury? Is there insurance? If it becomes clear during this meeting that we do not think you have a meritorious case as to liability, or that the injuries are just not serious enough, we have no choice but to decline to accept the case.
